DT Silicone Resin

DT silicone resins combine D (difunctional, R₂SiO₂/₂) and T (trifunctional, RSiO₃/₂) units to deliver a flexible yet heat-resistant thermoset network. Compared with pure T-resins, the D-unit backbone imparts toughness and elongation, making DT resins the choice for flexible high-temperature coatings and electrical insulating varnishes on non-rigid substrates.

Specifications

D:T Ratio0.3–1.0 (higher D = more flexible)
Heat Resistance250–350 °C continuous
Elongation at Break20–60% (vs <5% for pure T-resin)
Solid Content55–65% in xylene
CureCondensation cure 180–220 °C with or without catalyst

Applications

  • Flexible high-temperature wire and coil coatings
  • Motor and transformer insulating varnish on bendable wire
  • Release coatings on flexible substrates (PE film, paper)
  • Modifier resin blended with methyl T-resin to tune flexibility
  • Silicone resin paint for thermally-cycled components

Key Features

  • Flexible network: elongation up to 60% vs near-zero for T-resin
  • Heat resistance 250–350 °C — outperforms organic resins
  • Tunable flexibility via D:T ratio
  • Excellent adhesion to steel and aluminum without primer
  • Miscible with methyl T-resin for property interpolation
